The Life We're Building For

The Life We're Building For
September 20, 2026 • Note No. 03
Lately, I've been thinking about how much of our lives we spend building.
Building careers.
Building businesses.
Building savings.
Building homes.
Building relationships.
Building opportunities for our children.
Building the version of ourselves we believe we're becoming.
And somewhere in all that building, I found myself sitting with a slightly different question:
What am I building all of this FOR?
Not what am I building?
For.
That one word changed the question for me.
In the recent Sacred HERstory episode, Audrey’s story reminded me that wealth is not simply about having more. After living through immense pain, surgeries, hospital stays, and moments when fear could have defined her, Audrey still talks about wealth in deeply human terms: faith, family, travel, laughter, purpose, and being present for the people she loves. That made me reflect on what am I building for? Not just what are I am building—but for. Emergency savings can create breathing room. Retirement savings can create future choice. Life insurance can create protection. Investing can create possibilities. A family vacation fund can create memories. Money is the tool. It is not the destination. As I think about teaching, parenting, building Sacred Wealth LLC, creating, and all the work of shaping a meaningful future, I keep returning to this: I don’t want to become so consumed with building a beautiful future that I miss the beautiful life happening in front of me. So I ask you: are you giving yourself permission to experience some of it now?

A SACRED REFLECTION
What are you building for?
Not what are you building?
What are you building it FOR?
If you're working toward more money—what do you want that money to make possible?
If you're building a career—what kind of life do you hope that career supports?
If you're building a business—what freedom are you hoping it creates?
If you're building a family—what do you want it to feel like inside your home?
If you're healing—what do you want to experience when survival is no longer making every decision?
And perhaps one more question:
Is there a piece of the life you're working toward that you could allow yourself to experience now?
The trip may have to wait.
The retirement may be years away.
The business may still be growing.
But maybe the conversation, the walk, the laughter, the afternoon together, the boundary, the rest, or the moment of joy doesn't.
A SACRED WEALTH NOTE
Maybe wealth isn't about creating a life where we never have to worry again.
Maybe it's about creating enough choice, capacity, protection, presence, and possibility that we can participate more fully in the life we're already living.
Build the future.
Plan for it.
Protect it.
Dream bigger for it.
But every once in a while, look around.
Some of what you've been building for may already be here.
Until next week...
