You Have Permission to Shift

You Have Permission to Shift
October 11, 2026 • Note No. 05
Happy October.
And for those of you who are still here, thank you!!
Before we go any further, I have a little Sacred Notes update: You're going to hear from me a little less.
When I started Sacred Notes, I decided it needed to be weekly.
“Why?”
Well...because somewhere along the way I absorbed the idea that that's how you build a business. You have to be consistent, send the email, show up every week, and keep on producing. After doing it for a month, I realized something: I don't want to create Sacred Notes simply because I'm supposed to send a newsletter. That's right!
I want to write when there's something meaningful for us to sit with together.
So Sacred Notes is shifting. As we all do.
Beginning this month, I'll be writing to you twice a month—the first and third weeks of each month. And strangely enough, making that small decision feels very connected to what October has already been teaching me. And that is:
You are allowed to change your mind.
October has brought me into depths of myself I haven't thought about in years, such as: old experiences, old emotions, and the old versions of myself. They were things I thought I understood and thought I had moved beyond. I've found myself wondering: Is there something here for me to learn, release and/or reclaim? I've been thinking about how much of our lives is shaped by what we agree to—both intentionally and unintentionally. Some things we consciously choose. Others happen around us or to us before we fully understand what we're experiencing. Sometimes we find ourselves in circumstances we never would have chosen.
And sometimes we wake up and realize we've been living according to an agreement we don't even remember making. And somewhere underneath all of those expectations is another question: Is this actually true for me? Am I in alignment with my heart, mind, and BE-ing?
LIFE ISN'T ALWAYS LINEAR
I struggle with this one.I like progress to make sense and feel like I’m moving forward and not backwards. Simply heal and move on. But life continues to remind me that life doesn't always move in a straight line. Life can move in a spiral, which it often does in my world. We return to something we thought we had already worked through—but we're not actually standing in the same place. We're meeting it as someone new. Something we released comes back with an entirely different meaning such as an old wound that asks for a deeper level of healing or even an old dream asks whether we still want it. You and I have permission to shift, change our mind, and try again. We don't always need to force the answer. Oftentimes we need to give ourselves enough space and grace for the answer to reveal itself.

A SACRED REFLECTION
There was a time when I thought I needed to smile all the time.
Because that's how you make friends. That's how you maintain relationships and let people know you're okay. And recently, I thought I needed to send a newsletter every week. Because that's how you build a business. Different circumstances. Same underlying question: Who told me this was the rule?
So this month, I'm inviting you to notice the agreements you're living by.
Ask yourself:
What am I doing because it is true for me—and what am I doing because I learned somewhere along the way that this is who I'm supposed to be?
And then:
What would I choose if I gave myself permission to change my mind?
Without judgment. Without immediate action required. Just gentle awareness.
This is Sacred Wealth, too.
✦
A SACRED WEALTH NOTE
Wealth isn't simply accumulating more. It's having enough self-trust to recognize when more isn't what you need.
Is the way I'm building my life, my wealth, and my future in alignment with what I actually value?
For me, Sacred Wealth is not wealth at any cost. It's alignment. It's allowing what we create externally to become an honest reflection of what we value internally. And when do those two begin to match? That's integrity.
✦
THIS MONTH'S INVITATION
As October unfolds, perhaps we don't need to rush toward becoming someone new.
Maybe there's something to release.
Something to reclaim.
Something to see differently.
Or simply something we're finally ready to stop fighting.
Give yourself grace while you figure it out.
Not everything has to make sense immediately.
Not everything has to move in a straight line.
And changing your mind doesn't always mean you were wrong before.
Sometimes it simply means you've changed.
You have permission to shift.
You have permission to try again.
You have permission to choose what is true for you now.
And maybe that's one of the most sacred forms of wealth there is:
A life that increasingly belongs to you.
